About Potionologie
A small apothecary built on curiosity, study, and the belief that hair care deserves more care.
The Beginning
Potionologie started with a question most people never think to ask: what's actually in this bottle? The more we studied commercial formulations, the more we noticed the gap between marketing language and ingredient reality. Long ingredient lists padded with fillers. Vague fragrance blends. Plastic bottles for what was mostly water. We wanted to see if we could do it differently — not as a brand exercise, but as a genuine attempt at something better.
The Study
We don't formulate by following trends. Every recipe begins with research — understanding how each ingredient interacts with hair and scalp at a molecular level, what concentration it needs to work, and whether it's truly necessary. Our formulation library is full of failed experiments, revised ratios, and hard-won insights. That's the work most brands skip. We think it's the most important part.
The Testing
Every formula is batch-tested, pH-measured, and evaluated before it earns a place on our shelves. We track QC metrics for every production run. We don't release anything that doesn't meet our standards — even when that means delaying a launch or reformulating from scratch. The testing is quiet, unglamorous work. It's also what makes the difference between a product that sounds good and one that works.
The Intention
Potionologie isn't trying to be the biggest hair care brand. We're trying to be the most thoughtful one. Every decision — from ingredient sourcing to packaging materials to how we describe our products — is made with intention. Not perfection. Intention. There's a difference, and we think it matters.
